I love being out on the water, in a boat. It is relaxing and just amazing to watch God’s creation work. However, it is very important to have the right equipment while out there. An anchor is one of those pieces you don’t want to forget. It is very difficult to fish or scuba dive without it. When you are not anchored your vessel will drift with the current, which is sometimes moving very rapidly and you can get into trouble quickly.

Our lives are the same way. We need an anchor. If we don’t have one we will drift off in the wrong direction. Then we find ourselves in the middle of storm without being anchored. Imagine a boat in a storm without it’s anchor. It could be tossed into rocks and destroyed. Just like the boat, we tend to drift into things that could destroy us. It is more likely to happen while we are in the middle of a storm. The devil likes to attack when we are distracted.

So, what should our anchor be?  Jesus Christ is the only anchor that will provide us the protection we need. We all have issues and storms in our lives. Those storms might break or crack us but our souls will remain intact as long as we are anchored to Christ.

Hebrews 6:19

“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
