I posted this originally on Nov. 14, 2015 but felt it went along with the Spring Cleaning theme for March and leads us into the April theme of  Showers of Blessings in our lives.

Matthew 14:25-32
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

Do you find it hard to focus sometimes? I know I do. There are unfinished projects all around me. I even have an unfinished blanket I started crocheting over ten years ago. Please tell me I’m not the only one like this. We all get overwhelmed in this fast paced life we live in. We forget to stop and smell the roses.

Then there are those times that we focus on all we don’t have and instead of all we have been blessed with. Just like the old hymn “Count Your Many Blessings,” we have so much to be thankful for and we can always find someone less fortunate than ourselves. So start counting.

Sometimes we may find ourselves focusing on the storms of life around us. We will all encounter them. But who do we turn to? Do we focus on the one who can calm the storm? I know it is not easy. I find myself wrapped up in the storm sometimes and start sinking. I find myself just like Peter. When Peter was focusing on Jesus he was able to walk on the water. When he looked down he lost his focus and started to sink.

How many of us are searching to fill a void in our lives? Or searching for some kind of contentment? There is nothing in this world, no man or woman, no job, or item you can acquire that will ever fill the void in you. You will only be left longing for more. Jesus is the only way to find true joy in our lives. Jesus is the only one that can fill that void. When we focus on Him we find what we are looking for. If we take our eyes off of Him we find discontentment.

So keep your focus on Him and let Him guide your life. Is it easy? No, He never said it would be. But when you look back down the road you have traveled you will find that it was fulfilling.
