Psalm 61:1-3 (KJV)

1. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.  2. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  3. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

At church the other day we sang an old hymn called, “He Hideth My Soul.” It made me think about how God is always protecting us.  He never leaves us. We may feel alone at times and think no one cares, but God is always with us. It is comforting to know that when storms rise and we are tossed about, He will be there to calm the seas.

Below are the words of the song. Take some time to reflect on how GREAT God is and how He is our shelter.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away,
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God!
For such a Redeemer as mine.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

When clothed with His brightness transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.
