1 Peter 4:8 (KJV)
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
We have spent this month talking about blessings, and exploring where we can recognize and appreciate them more. Next step is to start sharing those blessings with others.
I have always heard it is better to give than receive. I know everyone enjoys receiving a gift or even a simple thank you sometimes, but there is a certain feeling you get when you give to someone else. It could be just the simple smile you receive back that sparks it.
As a whole, we usually don’t like to share. Think about kids for a second. Everything is “mine.” You tell your children to split a candy bar, and you get that look. One breaks it in half, examines which piece is bigger, and then gives the smaller piece to their sibling. When you grow up, you can start to appreciate the blessing you receive from sharing.
We should always be open to sharing what ever we have with others. The most important thing we have to share as a child of God is our testimony. Telling others how great our God is and how He has blessed us can be the one thing they need to hear to finally accept God’s gift of salvation. How cool would that be to help someone else recognize their need for God?
Look for someone this week that you could be a blessing too. Maybe it will be a random act of kindness to a stranger, or maybe that family member you have wanted to share your faith with. Just be open to sharing whatever you have with others.
