“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22
Laughter is a necessity in our lives and our marriages. I have always been one who laughed at awkward times. Times when I probably should have been crying. I know my kids remember me saying, “We have to laugh so we won’t cry.” I guess it is a defense mechanism. One example was when I was seven months pregnant with my daughter, I was involved in an accident. I was really scared and wanted to cry, but as soon as I got on the phone with my husband, all I could do was laugh. He knew he’d better hurry.
I have so many good memories of times we just laughed as a family. My son was usually the one who got us laughing. You can hear, “Oh, Lil Buddy” quite often around our house. I’m sure your family has those little sayings and inside jokes that always make you laugh. If not, you need to start making those memories. Our list grows daily.
Laughter is just good for the soul. It makes for a fun, happy marriage when you can laugh together. There are many studies about how laughter is good for your health. Long before these studies, we had scripture to tell us the same thing. God is pretty awesome.
Find something to laugh about today. Spend some time with family and friends and just laugh. It will bring you closer together and create memories for a lifetime.
Great reminder and words of wisdom. 🙂
