Matthew 5:4 (KJV)

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Who wants to mourn? Why not skip the pain? It seems like that would be a good solution. But, we can’t. As long as we live in this sinful world, we will suffer pain in this life. The only thing God promised was to be with us through the suffering.

So, why not try to look at our mourning differently? We can not avoid it, so let’s embrace it. If we look back at the verse, we see that we can expect comfort. God promised us that He would be with us through the suffering. We can always rely on Him. God will provide it Himself or through others in our lives. It is essential for us to be open to those wanting to help and be thankful when we receive it.

This week – take the time to appreciate where you are. If you are mourning, open yourself up to God’s blessings. Allow those in your life to help you. Trust God to see you through the pain. He promised He would. Maybe you aren’t mourning but, someone you know is. Think about what you can do for that person to be a blessing.
