“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”  John 13:34

It is easy to love those who love us back. How about those that aren’t so nice to us? Jesus didn’t specify different categories of people. He didn’t say only love those who love you back, or those who are nice to you. It is not easy to love people who are mean and hateful. Or to go a little further and even love our enemies as He says later in other scriptures.

Not only did Jesus say to love. He added, “as I have loved you.” Ouch, that is even tougher. Jesus loved by giving of Himself. So we are to love by giving of ourselves. Jesus reached people by showing  He cared. We too can reach more people if we show them we care.

A new challenge this week: We all have those people in our lives that are difficult to love. Take the opportunity to show love this week. It may be received well or it may not. Do it regardless of the turnout and God will bless you for it.
